Adding a Score’ to Scratch

This evening someone tweeted “How do I add a score to Scratch?”

Here is the answer…

From the orange ‘Variables’ menu, select ‘Make a variable’

Then choose a name, eg. “Score”

You can then choose to display the variable “Score” by leaving a check in the box, or invisible by leaving the checkbox empty.

Finally, a little bit of script to reset the variable “Score” to zero at the beginning of the game and increment it by 1 each time a particular event happens, eg. touching Sprite 2

That’s how easy it is to add Score to Scratch!
